A REMOTE ISLAND off the coast of England, 1934. A beautiful Spanish student, Fiamma, arrives at the boarding school that has its home there. An exotic outsider in a world of tuck boxes, midnight feasts and institutionalised adolescence, she soon threatens the established hierarchy of the school diving team. In particular, she usurps Di’s position as leader and pet of their glamorous teacher Miss G; a believable purveyor of tall tales, but a queen bee who is not all that she seems. Similar in tone to the classic Picnic at Hanging Rock (if not the 1931 Madchen in Uniform), this is an arresting directorial debut from the daughter of Ridley Scott.
