A BRILLIANT film that works on several levels – as a moral, thought- provoking drama, a thriller and a love story, as well as being technically very accomplished to boot. Benjamin Esposito is a legal investigator in Buenes Aires who, beginning in 1974, sets out to find the murderer of a teacher, not realizing that it is going to take him 25 years to lay various ghosts to rest. Clearly, it would take an exemplary piece of work to beat both The White Ribbon and A Prophet to the Oscar for Best Foreign Film – and here it is.
